The ETCEP project, aiming to promote gender equality in education was launched by the Turkish Ministry of Education in Ankara on May 21, 2015.

The project was co-financed by the European Union and the Turkish Republic, being conducted in Turkey’s 10 cities, with the aim of increasing awareness of teachers, parents and students on gender equality in education, ending in September 2016.

N. Vardar contributed to this EU project as the communication expert at its launch.

Dr. N. Vardar took part at the COSTAction IS0905 titled “The Emergence of Southern Multinationals and their Impact on Europe“ between 2010-2014,  with a research project titled “Analysing the Driving Factors and Motivations of Turkish Companies, Engaged in Foreign Direct Investment in the European Union: An International Business and Marketing View”, supported by the Turkish Scientific and Research Council between August 2010-2012.

The Project was coordinated by the Istanbul Technical Univ., Management Engineering Department.

The Four Volume Turkish Brands

Dr. Vardar, undertook the desk research, personal interviews and writing of the four volume Turkish Brands (“Türk Markaları” – TM) over a period of 2005-2013. This massive project covered 41 Turkish brands’ marketing cases, how they have become brands, their marketing and communication strategies since their early days.

In total 384 people were interviewed, more than 266,000 words were written, compiling a work of 1,300 pages in total.

Thirteen of these cases were also translated into English and they were marketed through the World Advertising Research Center’s (WARC) website between 2009-2014.

Dr. Vardar started updating and publishing these 41 cases individually as e-publications in Summer 2022. The new series is named as 3D Türk Markaları and being sold at Google Play Books, having various interactive features https://play.google.com/store/search?q=3D%20T%C3%BCrk%20Markalar%C4%B1&c=books

Vardar wrote her father Prof. Dr. Yusuf Vardar’s (1921-2009) biography as a well known botanist, based on documents and interviews; showing the hurdles that a young village boy had to overcome in order to be able to get education and become a scientist in Turkey after the second world war and the life lessons to be learned from him. Vardar’s first experience with publishing was in 1975 when she first translated a children’s book called Boxcar Children from English to Turkish, over a summer vacation and got it published at a regional daily newspaper as a result of her own efforts. This book was published at the Ekspres newspaper between October 9- November 2, 1975 over 25 days.
